Weekly update week commencing Monday 19th 2023

Mrs P Phillips - 15 Jun 2023

Weekly update week commencing Monday 19th June 2023

Good Afternoon,

Wildlife Area
Over recent weeks we have noticed considerable vandalism in our school wildlife area, leaving the area unsafe and therefore we have been unable to use this space.  We would like to remind everybody that the school site is private property and at no time is it acceptable for anyone to access our site without permission.  The safety of our children is of the highest importance.  We have spoken to the children in school and would appreciate you reiterating this message at home.  We are very proud of our wildlife area and school site and want to continue to enjoy it.

School Photographs
We are welcoming Rachel-Evelyn from Sweetpea Photography on â€‹Monday 10th July 2023.  Rachel comes recommended by Nikki Mitchel who has done our school photos in previous years.

Rachel will be working with both School and Pre-school during the day to take photos of the children individually and with their siblings. As well as a group photo of our Year 6 children.

If you would like sibling photos, please collect a form from your child's class teacher from Monday 12th June 2023 and return them by Friday 16th June.

If you would like to have a photo of your child with their younger sibling (children not yet at our school). These photos will take place at the start of the school day 8.45am.  Please also fill in the above mentioned form.

In school next week,

Wellbeing Afternoon
We are having a Wellbeing afternoon for all the children on Friday 23rd June starting with an outdoor lunch followed by lots of exciting activities.
Please can your child come to school in their PE kits and trainers.  Bring a drinks bottle, suncream, hat and a coat.  We will be both inside and outside throughout the afternoon.
If you have any spare picnic blankets, please can your child bring them too.
Thank you, Olivia and Wilberforce, School Ambassadors

KS2 Production
Starting on Monday 19th June, KS2 will be beginning their preparations for their end of year musical production. We are excited to welcome Butterflies performing arts school to help us with our performance skills. We would appreciate your support in helping your child learn any lines they have at home. The production will be led by Cedar class with Palm class supporting. Please see the school website for performance dates.

Cathedral Choir
Dr Ronny Krippner is coming into school Wednesday 21st June 2023 to talk about the Cathedral Choir and do short informal auditions for any KS2 pupils who are interested in joining. We have a few children from Kirkby already in the choirs and they all speak very positively about the experience.  Please speak to your child over the weekend and think about whether they might want to audition. They don't need to prepare anything, he will just ask them to sing a few notes on their own.

Sun safety
Finally we have some sunshine! We are delighted but it is important we keep the children safe during these sunny periods. Please ensure your child has the following on hot sunny days to keep them safe: sun hat/cap, water bottle and suncream applied before arriving at school.  If you wish, you may also provide your child with suncream to top-up at school; this needs to be a named bottle and your child will need to apply it themselves (adults will supervise and support as necessary for each age-group). Please take extra care to ensure your suncream does not contain any nut ingredients or extracts - thank you.
