Pupil Premium Funding

Pupil Premium Report

What is the Pupil Premium?

The pupil premium provides additional funding on top of the main funding a school receives and is paid with the intention that is used to address the underlying inequalities between children and thereby to raise standards of attainment. It also ensures all pupils benefit from the opportunities school offers.

The pupil premium is allocated by the government using the follow criteria:
  • Pupils who, at any point in the past 6 years have been accepted for Free School Meals based on family income.
  • Pupils who have been continually looked after by the local authority for the past six months or who have been adopted from care or who have left care under a Special Guardianship or Residence order.
  • Pupils whose parent/parents are currently serving in the armed forces or who are in receipt of a pension from the MOD.

The school is accountable for how this money is spent and the impact it makes on those who are eligible.

Principles:

At Kirkby Malzeard CE Primary School:
  • We ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all of our pupils.
  • We ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups. This includes ensuring that the needs of disadvantaged
  • Pupils are adequately assessed and addressed.
  • In making provision for disadvantaged pupils, we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be disadvantaged.
  • It is important that when making this provision that other students can benefit from this additional funding where possible.
  • Pupil premium funding will be allocated following a needs analysis which will identify priority classes, groups and individuals.

Provision:

The range of provision the school may consider includes:
  • Providing small group work to overcome gaps in learning.
  • 1-1 to support.
  • Additional teaching and learning opportunities.
  • Acquiring effective materials aimed at raising standards particularly in reading and mathematics.
  • To fund IT resources and programmes.
  • To fund specialised training to deliver effective intervention programmes.
  • To fund extra-curricular activities to ensure effective inclusion enabling all pupils to access a full curriculum.
  • To fund activities to fund social and emotional well being.
  • To develop a positive mindset.
