Weekly updates week beginning 20th March 2023

Mrs P Phillips - 16 Mar 2023

Weekly Updates

Good morning,
Please see below for any updates for tomorrow and the week ahead.

Red Nose Day - Friday 17th March
Our school council have been busy meeting, planning and organising lots of fundraising events for Red Nose Day in aid of comic relief tomorrow. They are asking for pupils to come dressed up in red for a donation of £1 - there will be a competition for the 'reddest' costume worn and a prize on offer.

At lunch time the council will be running a ‘red nose hunt’ on the field - 50p to enter. Finally, after school the children will be running a tombola and bake sale - any donations will be gratefully received (e.g. toys, books, games, box of biscuits or chocolates), please give to your child's class teacher next week and drop any baking off on the day. The council have set themselves a target to beat our Children in Need total of £239.74 from November - fingers crossed!

In school next week...

Children will need:
Swim cap (These can be bought from the swimming baths, please send £1.00 in an envelope labelled with your child’s name)

Bring along a recommended book!

Reading and Phonics drop-in Monday 20th March 2.30-3.30
Mrs Pawson will be running an information drop-in about reading and phonics at Kirkby Malzeard School on Monday 20th March 2.30-3.30pm in the school hall.
This is an opportunity to see resources, ask any questions, find out more and generally chat about all things reading and phonics.  Anyone who is interested in reading and phonics is welcome to join us, especially grandparents and extended family members as they often read with our children, please invite them along and spread the word.

Please see previous emails for more details, or ask Mrs Pawson

Safeguarding, Health and Wellbeing Updates
Just a reminder that letters were sent out in October last year to parents in Reception class and Year 6 regarding height and weight checks.  These checks are due to take place next Wednesday by the School Health Team.  We have attached the letter again for your reference - any parents who have concerns about this, please contact Admin.

Autism
Please see below a link to a great resource for parents with children who may suffer from anxiety related to autism.
