Weekly Update Friday 12th June 2026

12 Jun 2026

  Our Vision

We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness’ and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.

New this week…

Important Update: New School Information System (Arbor) from September
From September, our school will be moving to a new Management Information System called Arbor. This system will replace our current platforms, SIMS and parent pay.
Arbor will become our primary tool for managing student data, attendance, behaviour, and communications, bookings for clubs, lunches, buses and all other payments. We are making this switch to improve how we work and how we connect with you.

Why we are moving to Arbor
We have chosen to upgrade our system for several key reasons:
  • Better communication: Arbor offers a more reliable and modern system for sending emails, app notifications, and letters.
  • All-in-one platform: You will no longer need to navigate multiple systems to check on your child's school life.
  • Parent Portal and App: You will gain access to a dedicated app where you can view attendance, check timetables, book and pay for trips, clubs and lunches and update your contact details easily.
  • Improved efficiency: The system reduces administrative tasks for our staff.

What happens next?
You do not need to take any action right now. We will handle the secure transfer of all student and parent data.
Over the next few weeks, we will send you a follow-up message. This will include a direct link and clear instructions on how to download the Arbor App and set up your new account.
Thank you for your patience and support as we introduce this exciting new system to improve our school community.

Spotlights from Learning…

Acorn
This week in Acorn Class, we have begun to read, retell, and reflect upon our new writing inspiration, Where the Wild Things Are. You might enjoy creating a simple story map at home together, and using it to retell the tale in your own words.
In our Geography learning, we have also been exploring the idea of seasonal foods. Perhaps you could look together at the foods you enjoy at home and consider which are currently in season locally. Acorns it would be wonderful if you might even help at home to shop more seasonally, what might you choose to buy?

Oak Class
The Great Fire of London is our focus in writing and History and the children and the children have enjoyed role playing what it was like to live in London in 1666.  We are learning how to write a diary and which will lead to us writing a diary in the role of Samuel Pepys.  Perhaps you could encourage your children to recording what they have been doing each day or week, including their feelings about events in a diary.

Palm Class
Palm class have begun their learning of fractions. Sa far we have found out that fractions are not all that complicated. We have looked at what a fraction is and linked it to the language and vocabulary we use. We have used the stem sentence 'The whole had been divided into __ equal parts. __of those parts have been shaded/taken.' We have begun investigating how fraction notation links to the size of a fraction...the smaller the denominator, the larger the part. Can you notice or investigate any fractions over the weekend?

Cedar Class
This week we have being enjoying our last week hosting our friends from Thailand, who fly home on Saturday. We have enjoyed an exciting PE enrichment day where we learnt to play a new sport - handball. We then used our new skills in a competition environment hosting a dales handball competition. The children are now starting to play handball in break and continuing to hone those new skills. We also visited Fountains Abbey so we could apply our learning of medieval monks and the Tudors in the field. This was an amazing but wet day, where we sheep tracked past learning while also learning something new. We will end this week with a goodbye afternoon tea for our Thai friends as we send them a fond farewell for another year.

Class Collective Worship
Each week one of our Collective Worship sessions takes place in class with a focus on something in the news. Attached in a take home that you might like to think about and share with your child at home, there is no need to return this to school.
