Weekly Update Friday 22nd May 2026

19 May 2026

Our Vision

We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness’ and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.

Happy Half Term
Wishing all of our children, families, and staff a fantastic and restful half-term break!
Thank you for all your hard work, dedication, and energy throughout this busy and productive half term.
Take this time to relax, recharge, and enjoy quality time with loved ones. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for what looks to be a very busy and exciting last half term of the academic year.

New this week…

Sports Day
Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for Sports Day!
Your fantastic energy, cheering, and support created an incredible atmosphere for the children.
We are incredibly proud of how well the children participated, showing great sportsmanship, teamwork, and determination throughout all the events. We are also so proud of the older pupils who supported our younger pupils so well.
A special congratulations also goes out to the brave adults who stepped up and took part in our parent races—your competitive spirit was fantastic to see!
Thank you again to our friends for their fantastic efforts.
Thank you again for your ongoing support and for making the day so memorable.

Staffing structure
Following on from our recent communication regarding staffing, Mrs Taylor will be available after school on Tuesday 2nd July at 3.30pm for parents to drop in with any further questions regarding this and just a reminder that Miss Joely Weston will be in school on 7th July and available to meet parents at 3.30pm on that day.

Spotlights from Learning…

Acorn and Oak Class
This week we have had a really exciting visit from the ‘Birds of a Prey at Swinton Estate’, Sophie came with three owls two of which were only five weeks old…
Apex - European Eagle Owl
Azarah- Great Horned Owl
This was a super experience and linked in with all of our work in Science this term- we have been learning about animal habitats, growth, change, and what animals need to survive. The ‘Birds of a Prey at Swinton Estate’ have lots of events for everyone to enjoy https://www.swintonestate.com/activities/birds-of-prey/

It has been a really busy and fun week in school with lots of sports, we are very proud of everyone!

Palm Class
Palm class have been incredibly busy this week with our cooking. We have looked at a full design process and followed a design brief to adapt a recipe and create some delicious and eye catching cookies. We had to not only design our biscuits but also budget so that we would make a profit if we sold them - we certainly have some apprentices in the class, they were very tight with their spending! I wonder what cooking creations you might make together over the holidays? Can your child stay within budget? Will they evaluate and make improvements for the future?

Cedar Class
This week in Cedar we have enjoyed considering our big question in RE, 'If architecture should be less important than giving to charity. As we look at the different architecture of both churches and mosques and the similarities and differences between the two. Why not ask your child if they can remember when the first mosque was built in the UK and where? Or how many church buildings there are in the UK?

Class Collective Worship
Each week one of our Collective Worship sessions takes place in class with a focus on something in the news. Attached in a take home that you might like to think about and share with your child at home, there is no need to return this to school.

Year 4 Multiplication Check
A reminder that the year 4’s will be taking part in the government multiplication tables check during the first week back after half term. They have worked very hard at these all year and have some great knowledge around the tables. We have been practising plenty to make sure these facts are fluent. Please support your child to practise these as much as possible (daily if they can) over the holiday so they don't lose their fluency. They will be bringing home their own set of times table cards to help them practise - please can they return with these on the first day back, thank you. (Miss Oates forgot to send the cards, apologies! The children may like to make their own at home. They can use the below image to help them.)

PE days
Acorn - Tuesday (please come dressed in your PE kit)
Oak – Friday
Palm - Friday (some weeks next half term, Palm class will do PE on a Monday. Please can children bring their PE kits in on a Monday each week, in case our lesson is not on the Friday that week. Thank you!
Cedar – Friday

Coats and sun cream
As we have seen this week the weather can be somewhat unreliable, please can all children come to school with a waterproof coat every day, they might also need a sunhat. Please can children come to school wearing sun cream ready for the day as we are often outside. If children need to re-apply sun cream this should be handed to your child’s teacher in a named bottle, they need to be able to apply cream independently. Please check the ingredients carefully as often sun creams contain nut oils.

Bus Booking Form W/C Monday 1st June 2026.
Please note this form needs to be submitted by Tuesday 2nd June - 9.00am and we will no longer be accepting changes by phone or email.

Safeguarding, Health and Wellbeing Updates…

Packed Lunches
Please can we remind parents of all children to continue to cut grapes and similar items such as cherry tomatoes to reduce the risk of choking for all children. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our children safe.
