Weekly Update Thursday 15th January 2026
15 Jan 2026
Our Vision
We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness’ and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.
New this week…
Science workshop
KS2 had great fun this week with ‘Love Science’ revisiting some of our previous science learning and ‘Sticky Knowledge’ on forces and magnets.
Class Collective Worship
Each week one of our Collective Worship sessions takes place in class with a focus on something in the news. Attached in a take home that you might like to think about and share with your child at home, there is no need to return this to school.
This week’s take home…
Spotlights from Learning…
Please look out for our class newsletters and the Spring Term ‘Sticky Knowledge’ on the school website, these were published on Friday 9th January.
Acorn Class
This week Acorn Class have been busy wildlife watching and getting ready for the RSPB ‘Big Schools’ Birdwatch’, you can take place at home and it is great fun as well as helping us to use our values and to look after our environment.

We have also been busy with our mathematical investigations, we would love to share our learning with you at home; ask EYFS about the ‘staircase pattern’ looking at one more and one less numbers 1-5 and ask Year 1 about the commutative law and addition equations!
Oak Class
Oak class this week has been busy learning all about colour mixing in our art lessons. We have been exploring with primary and secondary colours using a variety of media. Ask your child how they made different hues?
Palm Class
Palm class have enjoyed being active this week. Some of our class have been to Ripon leisure centre to build their swimming skills and some of us have begun our PE unit of dance. Both sets of children were very excited and positive about their active learning. I wonder what their favourite part was?
Cedar Class
This week we have loved learning how we can make tricky multiplication equations more easier to solve by adjusting the factors in the equation whilst making sure the product stays the same, making solving the equation more efficient. Why not ask your child how you can use this calculation strategy to help you solve 24 x 6 or for a trickier one 160 x 4.

Wellies and Trainers
Please remember to bring them back into school. Thank you.
Headlice/nits
We have several cases of headlice in school, please can you check your family’s hair and treat as necessary. Local pharmacists are a very helpful source of information and can advise on which treatment is currently the most effective in our area. Please follow the instructions on the treatment carefully and don’t forget to retreat your family, this is usually required a week after the first treatment.
Warm/Waterproof coats
It has been very cold this week, we like to spend as much time outside as possible, children do need to have a warm waterproof coat with them every day.
Packed Lunches
Please can we remind parents to continue to cut grapes and similar items such as cherry tomatoes to reduce the risk of choking for all children. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our children safe.
