Weekly Update Thursday 13th November 2025
13 Nov 2025
Our Vision
We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness’ and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.
New this week…
Spotlights from Learning…
Acorn Class
We have been looking at our homes and the different buildings in Kirkby Malzeard. What kind of house do you live in?
Oak Class
We have been learning about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores and have enjoyed making some great bird feeders - look out for these, they will be coming home shortly. I wonder where your child will place theirs. Ask your child whether the meal you’re eating tonight is suitable for an omnivore, carnivore or herbivore.
Palm Class
Palm class were super excited to start their art learning this week. We have been sheep-tracking our portrait learning and have been developing our sketchbook skills. Which artist did your child like most and do you know any others?
Cedar Class
We have loved learning about the heart and how it works this week - what a fascinating part of our body! Ask your child about the chambers and the blood vessels...can your child notice when their pulse changes and explain why?
Patronal Festival
We are busy learning songs to sing at our Patronal Festival which this year will be held in St Andrew church. We will be singing at 11.30am all children and parents will be welcome; more details will follow shortly. All children will need to be accompanied by their own adult at all times.
Also this week …
In school we have been practicing songs for the Patronal Festival as well as supporting, celebrating and shouting out to Sara Cox. What an exciting week we have had!
On Tuesday the whole school came together mid-morning for a special Remembrance service. Year 6 shared with us some beautiful poetry, we all took part in a two-minute silence before listening to some contemplative music.
We were thrilled to welcome Reverend Jane into school on Wednesday and she joined us in our class worship.
Children in Need
On Friday 14
th November we will be celebrating Children in need in school. Children are invited to come dressed in yellow, or spots for a suggested donation of £1.00. The theme this year is ‘Challenge yourself’ therefore school council will be putting on a selection of challenges at lunchtime. There is a suggested donation of £1.00 to take part in these challenges.
Parent Pay
Thank you to all those parents who have already settled their accounts, however please could we ask that any outstanding payments (particularly for after school activity clubs) are settled as soon as possible.
Headlice- NITS
We have a significant outbreak of headlice in school, please can we ask everyone to check hair throughout families and treat all cases over the weekend. A reminder that a follow up treatment is needed a week later to ensure all eggs and lice are treated. A nit comb is also advisable to remove dead eggs and lice from hair after treatment.

School Council Pyjama Appeal
Don’t you love the feeling of new fuzzy PJs? Not everyone gets to enjoy that feeling. Therefore, we are collecting new sets of pyjamas for the Clothing bank’s 'Pyjama Appeal'. We would love it if you could donate any new pyjamas to help those who don’t get that wonderful feeling at Christmas. You can donate PJs from now until Monday 1st December 2025. Please can it be new PJs only. Any ages. There is a bin on the playground to place them in. Thank you!
