Weekly Update Thursday 25th September 2025
25 Sep 2025
Our Vision
We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness’ and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.
New this week…
Message from the governors:
The governors would like to extend their own thanks to the staff team who have gone above and beyond again.
To the staff who took 87 children on the residential to Bewerley Park last week, the children had an amazing time taking part in activities from early morning until late evening. The staff worked tirelessly to ensure all children could access the activities and remained happy, safe and settled throughout, even managing to do daily updates late in the evening at the end of very long days with no breaks. We would like to recognise their dedication and efforts in working away all week and leaving their own families.
We would also like to thank the staff at school who remained at school and kept school running smoothly with a much-reduced staff team.
Parent Pay
Thank you to all those parents who have already settled their accounts and paid for the relevant clubs and activities this term. However please could we ask that any outstanding payments are settled as soon as possible.
A reminder that school meals and whizz Kids sessions should be settled by the end of September.
Skip 2 B Fit workshop
On Tuesday 30
th September the children will be participating in a Skip2Bfit workshop. Children in Acorn Class are requested to come in their PE kits for the day please, children in Cedar, Palm and Oak class should also come in their PE kits, but bring uniform in a bag for the afternoon please.
Reading Journals
We are very excited to have new reading journals to use across the school. Our reading journals are for us to record any or all of our reading adventures in. We can write or draw, add photos, pictures of books, make recommendations, ask questions and share any reading adventures from home or school. These books can be added to at any time, can children please bring them to school each day.
They are very much a journal for the children but feel free to add to it any reading adventures that you have shared together at home. We always love to read a recommendation.
We would like these books to become something that children treasure and develop throughout the school year. There isn’t a ‘right way’ of recording in your journal and each child will want to make their books their own. We will share inspiration, thoughts and ideas with the children in school to help them get their journals started. We ask that you encourage them to look after their book just as they do the reading books themselves.
During class reading times and in Reading Buddies we will have opportunities to share our reading journals with others and look at recommendations, reviews and things the children would like to share.
Children will no longer use their old yellow reading record books, please feel free to keep these at home if you would like them.
If you have any questions about reading journals or reading please do ask.
