New this week…
 
What an end to the term; we have said goodbye to our lovely year six children and I think the children are ready for a rest after a very busy year.  We also said goodbye to Mrs Martin and we would like to thank you for your generous donations towards Mrs Martins leaving gift.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank parents for all your support over the year and to say well done to the children for all their hard work and for the successes they have achieved this year.

I hope you all have a fun filled (and hopefully sunshine filled) summer.

We look forward to welcoming you all back to school Tuesday 2nd September 2025. Just a reminder, there will also be the opportunity to drop in on the Monday 1st September at 3pm to see your child’s new classroom ready for the start of term.

School library books
A reminder that we are collecting in all outstanding school and class library books and learn to read books.  If you are not sure what books your child has outstanding please see your child’s class teacher.
 
Get close to nature with the Summer Reading Challenge 2025! 
Children can once again sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge at their local library during the holidays. This year the theme is Story Garden and is all about. firing up imagination through the power of reading and creative expression.  

The challenge for children is to read 6 library books of their choice and collect special stickers along the way – everyone who finishes will receive a limited-edition Story Garden medal and a certificate. Any child aged 4 to 11 can join in and the challenge runs from Sat 12 July until Sat 6 Sept. Find out more about the challenge here:  
There will also be a fantastic programme of activities in libraries all summer, many of them free, to go with the challenge – families can find out what’s happening locally by contacting their library, on local library Facebook pages and on our webpages: Summer Reading Challenge | North Yorkshire Council 
 
School closes on Friday 18th July
School closes for the summer holidays at 2pm on Friday 18th July, there will be no clubs or Whizz Kids after school on this day.  If your child travels on the bus, please can we have up-to-date information, if we do not receive any updated information, for safeguarding purposes your child will not be placed on the bus.

Bake sale at school
A bake sale is being held by Keira and Meghan this Friday afternoon during school pickup at 2pm. As part of their involvement in Girlguiding, they are actively fundraising for an exciting trip to Switzerland in August 2026. The bake sale is one of the initiatives they’ve organized to support this opportunity, and they would greatly appreciate the school community’s support.
 
Parent Pay
As we move towards the end of term we would like to gently remind parents to settle their Parent Pay accounts where required, it is particularly important for parents of Year 6 children who will be leaving at the end of term. 

If you have any queries regarding arrears please do not hesitate to contact the admin to discuss this further.  You can check your account balance any time by logging onto www.parentpay.com
 
Parent Packs
Parent packs will be coming home later this week with important policies and copies of school contact and medical information.  Please check over this information that we hold on record for you and your child, if this needs updating please do so by hand and return to school in the new academic year. 
Please do not confuse these with the Bewerly Park information which is coming home today.
 
Booksale Fundraiser 
Are your bookshelves overflowing? Need to have a sort through? Friends & the School council are planning a second hand book sale to raise money for the school. In the autumn term we will be collecting any unwanted children’s books, more details to follow after the summer holidays!!!
 
Class Structure for next year
The class structure from September 2025 will remain the same as it is now
Acorn Class – Reception and Year One
Oak Class – Year Two
Palm Class – Year Three and Four
Cedar Class – Year Five and Six
 
Clubs
Breakfast Club and After School Club will be running from the first day back in September (Tuesday 2nd September). If your child requires a place in the first week back, please contact Mrs Wilcox via email:- twilcox@kirkbymalzeard.n-yorks.sch.uk

Details of the other clubs have already been sent out, Gardening club is on the first week back.  Football club will commence the second week back. 
 
Class Collective Worship
Each week one of our Collective Worship sessions takes place in class with a focus on something in the news.  Attached is a take home that you might like to think about and share with your child at home, there is no need to return this to school.  There is a new sheet each week.
