New this week…
Class structures and staffing for September 2025
As we near the end of the academic year, our thoughts in school have started to turn to the arrangements for the academic year ahead. Please find information regarding this below:
We recently ran a recruitment process to appoint a new teacher for Oak class. We were very lucky to have some very strong candidates and are delighted to have appointed Mrs Fielder and Mrs Clark to job share this role, both of whom have worked in school recently.
We are also delighted to have appointed Mrs Phillips (who currently works in Oak Class) to work in Palm Class to job share with Miss Oates one day a week when Miss Oates is released for leadership time. This means Miss Oates will work four days each week with Mrs Phillips one day each week. Miss Oates has also been successful in being selected to lead a Maths group for teachers across North Yorkshire so Mrs Phillips will also be able to teach the class on the occasional days where she will need to be absent for this.
So Miss Oates can focus on her class and her new Maths role moving forward, she will be relinquishing her role as SENCo from September. Miss Mandelson, who is the SENCO at St Nicholas, will be taking over the SENCo role and working in school each week with our children.
Mrs Martin has decided that it is time to step away from the pastoral role in school and have more time for her family commitments. We are all so sorry that she is leaving us; please be assured, she will be coming back into school to support on an ad hoc basis and already has her name down for the residential week! We won’t let her go too easily! We are pleased to share that Mrs Bentley will be taking over the pastoral role in school.
Class Structure:
Therefore, the class structure and staffing for next year will be as follows:
Acorn Class – Mrs Pawson
Reception and Year One
Oak Class – Mrs Fielder and Mrs Clark
Year Two
Palm Class – Miss Oates and Mrs Phillips
Year Three and Year Four
Cedar Class – Mr Anson
Year Five and Six
Miss Oates and Mrs Pawson will continue in their leadership roles in school and are available for parents in my absence.
I know many of you will want to say a huge thank you to Mrs Martin for the amazing work she has done over the years for your children. There will be a collection for a gift for Mrs Martin. Should you wish to contribute to this, please send this in an envelope to the school office clearly labelled with ‘Mrs Martin – Donation’ by Monday 7th July.
Should you have any questions about any information above, please feel free to contact school via the office.
We look forward to the busy term ahead and to ensuring our children have a positive end to this year.
Reminder for all parents
Please can we ensure that all children come to school with a water bottle, sunhat and suncream applied, thank you for helping us to keep our children safe.
Please could we also ask that children do not bring toys and precious things from home into school.
September Reception starters
Acorn class will be welcoming our new Reception starters into school for their first induction day this week, we know they will be brilliant role models and make them feel very happy in our school.
Performance Rehearsals
Our Moana rehearsals will be continuing next week for Cedar class, we hope the line learning is going well. These rehearsals will all be held at Kirkby Malzeard this year.
Thank you for all the donations of large cardboard boxes,
please continue to bring them in and drop them off at the KS2 classrooms. These boxes will help our backstage crew enormously to build the set.
