New this week…
Start of summer 2 term
A polite reminder that Monday 2nd June is a professional development day for staff and the children start back at school on
Tuesday 3rd June. We hope you have a lovely half term adn look froward to seeing you then.
Sports Day
Huge thank you to all your support with our sports afternoon. We are sure you will agree the children showed great sportsmanship and had a fabulous time. The overall winning dale team was...Wensleydale! Well done!!! Thank you to the friends for their help and support.
Class PE days
The days for PE next term for each class are as follows:
Acorn – Wednesday (Acorn class please come to school in your PE kit)
Oak – Monday
Palm - Friday
Cedar - Monday
Class Collective Worship
Each week one of our Collective Worship sessions takes place in class with a focus on something in the news. Attached is a take home that you might like to think about and share with your child at home, there is no need to return this to school. There is a new sheet each week.

Forest School Friday
To support our Golden Thread further, Helen will be running a morning forest school session for each class on a Friday morning based around understanding and embracing the wider world. The dates are on the website and are as follows:
Thursday 5th June - Cedar (additional session with our visitors from Thailand)
Friday 6
th June – Palm
Friday 13
th June – Cedar
Friday 4th July - Oak & Acorn
Children should come in comfy, warm clothes suitable for forest school. They will need long trousers, water proofs and wellies. Please send uniform in a bag for the afternoon session.
Kirkby Lions and the Denby Tornament
We were super proud to hear what fantastic representitives we had at the Denby tournament last week. It has been reported to us that they encouraged each other and worked hard, showing excellent sportsmanship and determination - they were and absolute credit and deserve to be very proud of thyemselves! We want to say a huge well done to them - we are very proud!
Work Experience Pupils
It has been lovely having pupils from Ripon Grammar School at Kirkby this week learning all about school as a workplace. They have spent time across the classes seeing what we get up to.
KS2 Striking Games
A huge well done to our teams that ventured to Outwood to take part in a striking games tournament on Tuesday. They made us super proud with all the effort and have made it through to the finals! We wish them luck!
Reminders…
Football Club
We have received a really good response regarding Football Club and it will therefore go ahead the second week of the new term. KS2 will play on Tuesdays for and Wednesdays for KS1. Football boots are not mandatory.
