New this week…
Reception class Learn to Ride my Bike Training
‘Learn to ride my bike training’ will be taking place at Kirkby Malzeard school on Thursday 25
th April 2024 for Acorn class and any non-riders throughout school, an email will be sent out separately providing further information.
KS1 Football Festival
Some children will be taking part in the football festival at North Stainley next week, we wish them lots of fun. Parents have been notified separately.
Could your son or daughter be a Cathedral Chorister?
Dr Krippner, the Director of Music at Ripon Cathedral, will be visiting our school to talk to the children during an assembly about the Choristers of Ripon Cathedral and how to become a Cathedral Chorister. All interested children are invited to see Dr Krippner after the assembly for an informal audition. Being a chorister is an outstanding opportunity, so it is very much worth considering! Dr Krippner will visit us on Wednesday 1
st May 2024.

Parent Pay
Just a polite reminder that all the new clubs have now been put onto Parent Pay, along with the Richmond Castle trip (Acorn & Oak class) and Swimming (Acorn class), for those who haven’t settled their parent pay accounts, please could you do so as soon as possible.
If you have any concerns or problems, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
RSE Policy Review
Many thanks to all those who completed the recent RSE survey and to those who have volunteered their time to help as we review the federation RSE policy. Your support is very much appreciated.
The working party meeting will take place at St Nicholas CE Primary School, West Tanfield on

PE
Please see below for details of PE days for each class this first Summer term:
Acorn Class - Swimming every Wednesday
Please may children attend school in PE clothes (joggers and PE top) with a school jumper/cardigan and bring their swimming kit with them. This makes changing for swimming much swifter!
Oak Class - Every
Monday
Please come to school in your school uniform and bring PE kits in a separate bag. The children will go home in their PE kits.
Palm Class - Every
Thursday
Please come to school in your school uniform and bring PE kits in a separate bag. The children will go home in their PE kits.
Cedar Class - Every
Friday
Please come to school in your school uniform and bring PE kits in a separate bag. The children will go home in their PE kits.
Oak, Palm and Cedar will endeavour to undertake their PE sessions outside as much as possible so please make sure your child ha appropriate footwear in school.

Forest school Friday
To support our Golden Thread further, Helen will be running a morning forest school session for each class on a Friday morning based around understanding and embracing the wider world. Please come dressed in forest school kit with appropriate clothing and footwear to be outside all morning.

Swimming - Wednesdays this term
Swimming lessons this term started this week for
Acorn class..
Come to school wearing PE joggers and t-shirt and a school sweater/cardigan, NO TIGHTS. Please ensure everything is named this will help us get changed quickly to get in the pool and a prompt return to school.
Swimming caps are essential (these can be bought from the swimming baths, please send £
2.50 in an envelope labelled with your child’s name)
Children will need:
One-piece costume for girls & shorts for boys (no baggy board shorts please).
Towel, Goggles (optional),
Long hair tied up
School is asking for a
voluntary contribution of £7.20 per session which is payable via parent pay to cover the swim lesson and the coach transport.
Please note, if school does not receive enough contributions this activity will not continue to go ahead.
Forest School Wednesday – Palm Class
This half term Palm will have their forest school sessions
EVERY Wednesday. Children need to bring with them appropriate clothing and footwear to be outside all afternoon. Please make sure that these items are named. Please note legs need to be covered due to nettles in the wildlife area.
