SCHOOL COUNCIL - PUPILS MAKING A DIFFERENCE
07 May 2020
At Kirkby Malzeard School we have an amazing School Council with children involved from Year 1 up to Year 6. They are a fantastic support to our school providing a “Pupil Voice", as well as organising brilliant fundraising events for school and the wider community. Two of the events which they have been part of this year include a Bake Sale for Muscular Dystrophy and a “Skipathon.”
The idea for the “Skipathon” came from the children wanting to raise money to help the community and animals of Australia during the horrific bush fires earlier this year. It involved every child in school skipping for an allotted amount of time, raising money through sponsorship from family and friends. We raised over £600 which we sent to the Red Cross Australian Bush Fire Fund.
Kirkby Malzeard School hold fantastic Bake Sales and our School Council members are all brilliant bakers! We raised £50 for The Muscular Dystrophy charity selling delicious cakes and biscuits, after school to our friends and parents.
