Home Learning - Autumn 2

Miss Oates - 06 Nov 2020

Home Learning

Reading:
Please read your school reading book everyday at home. Remember to use your phonics to help with words you don't know. Once you are fluent with your reading, have a discussion with someone about your book. Here are some ideas of things you could discuss.

If you have received a Read Theory login, you may also use this to practise your reading and comprehension. Try and do this once a week.

Maths:
Please practise your Numbots skills. If you have lost your login, let me know and I can send it home again.

Spelling
In class we are establishing our spelling routines. We are looking at alternative spellings of the same sound and finding out when is best for us to use each spelling. Once we are confident with this, spelling investigations will be sent home to practise further.

In Year 2 there are also some common exception words that we will be learning to spell. We will slowly build up these spellings across the year. Below, the ones we are learning so far can be found, and here is the full list of all the words.
  • beautiful
  • because
  • eyes
  • people
  • through
  • could
  • would
  • should
  • behind
  • find
  • kind
  • mind
  • child
  • children
Seesaw:
Your seesaw login will be used if school is required to close due to COVID-19. You may also be asked to use seesaw if our bubble closes or if you are self-isolating.
