School Information

We are a small village primary school with an ideal setting, opposite St. Andrew’s Church, which allows us to work closely with our community. We pride ourselves in being a warm and caring school with a strong Christian ethos which promotes the values of love, peace, kindness and patience. During their time with us we support our children to become confident & happy learners, who feel safe and secure whilst preparing them for the next stage of their education.

Kirkby Malzeard village has had a school since Tudor times. Our older building housed the school (and school house) in the 19th century and is now used for ICT and ‘Whizz Kids’ – our exciting before and after school provision. Our main school was built in the 1970’s and is the base for Oak class. We have 2 additional mobile classrooms. We are very proud of the great facilities we have to offer especially our library which encourages children to have a love of reading and books.

Kirkby Malzeard School is set in extensive, attractive school grounds which incorporate two playgrounds, an outdoor learning area for EYFS/KS1, a large playing field and wildlife garden (complete with an outdoor activities classroom). We promote a love of learning in our school and our children love learning in the outdoors.

As our education system continues to change, at Kirkby Malzeard we rise to the challenges and see them as opportunities to provide the very best for all of our children. We are part of a ‘collaborative partnership’ with St. Nicholas CE School in West Tanfield and also part of the Ripon Rural cluster and the Harrogate Teaching Alliance.  By developing strong partnerships and networks between schools our mission is to use our strengths as a group to ensure that enthusiasm, expertise and resources are used effectively and efficiently for every child, providing high quality education whilst still keeping and celebrating the diversity of our individual schools.
