Weekly Update 25th October 2018

Mrs Wolfe - 25 Oct 2018

We’ve had a super final week of term!   Learning review meetings have been well attended.  Thank you children, for your hard work preparing for your meeting and to all our families who have attended this week.

On Monday Cedar worked alongside the rest of the school to complete their end of WW1 centenary art project.  The displays are going to look amazing!

In maths we have been revising calculation methods and then applying our understanding to reasoning and problem solving.  Pupils have been working hard on improving explanations in reasoning and responses are getting better all the time.

Our grammar work has explored noun phrases and we have been identifying modifiers in our book Earthsea, then applying our grammar knowledge into our own writing.  Pupils have been writing openers based on an image and it is incredible to see such fantastic improvements since their first openers back in September.

Yesterday we began work on our Roman shields.  Pupils used measuring skills to cut their shape and then used papier maché techniques to create a surface on which to apply their designs.  They are looking fantastic and we can’t wait to paint our Roman designs on them after the half-term break.

Today we have sent Year 6 revision packs home for the half term – please look out for a folder in your child’s bag along with some information to support your child over the half term break.

Year 5 pupils - please access the homework page to see your home learning project information for the half term.  Year 6 pupils are also encouraged to complete these tasks too.

We can’t believe that our first half term has finished!  Mrs Buggy and I wish all the pupils a safe and happy half term.  We hope to see the children rejuvenated and ready to learn on the 5th October.

Please note - on the 8th November we have a visitor in school from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation who will be speaking to us about Poverty.  Please encourage your child to bring in a picture/image of what poverty means to them.

9th November - Pizza Express!
