Weekly Update 11th October 2018

Mrs Wolfe - 11 Oct 2018

We’re in!  We have at last moved into our new classroom and what a classroom it is!  If you haven’t already had the chance please do pop in at the end of the day to have a peek.  The children have been very patient and helpful this week, adjusting to our new environment and getting settled.  We still have a lot to do but are quickly making it our own.

Thank you for your support with the new building arrangements - we kindly ask that when waiting for your child at the end of the day, you wait in the main playground area. For health and safety reasons, we cannot have the area immediately outside of the classrooms becoming congested.  Cedar and Palm now share a cloakroom –again due to congestion we kindly request that pupils enter the building independently each morning.  Please don’t hesitate to leave a message at the office if you need to, send a message in your child’s planner or pop in at the end of the day to speak to either myself or Mr Donaldson.  This arrangement also allows us to get started with our learning straight away – every second counts!

It’s still been a full on week of learning with assessments and preparations for harvest.  We have been focusing on ‘water’, our theme for harvest and it has been incredibly interesting finding out how important and crucial it is.  We do hope you can join us at our harvest festival on Monday morning to hear our findings.

On Monday afternoon Mr Rutter began preparations for the end of WW1 centenary.  Cedar worked with the rest of the school to start thinking about and planning our acknowledgement of this historical event.  Cedar pupils worked brilliantly supporting our younger pupils in school - we were very proud of them.

Certificates went home today for some our ‘Rockstars’ and ‘Rock Legends’ on Times Table Rockstars.  It was great to see some Cedar pupils achieving this award so soon.  Times Table Rockstars is a regular home learning task – a little bit of practise every day will make such a huge impact.

Next week our learning review meetings will begin – if you haven’t managed to book an appointment via the website yet please let me know and I will organise one for you.  I am looking forward to meeting with you all to share our pupils’ learning so far this academic year.
