 A fantastic start to the week was had by all at ‘Messy Church’ on Monday.  CARE was the theme for our session in church and pupils enjoyed lots of exciting activities that linked to this.  Our new captains did a brilliant job stepping into their new roles and organising their dales.

We’ve been busy brushing up our place value skills again this week, thinking about ‘big’ numbers and how they are used in real-life.  Cedar found some fantastic facts that involved 6, 7 and 8 digit numbers in the news, it really helped put this area of our learning into context.

English skills have been transferred into our history learning whilst planning and writing a recount of our Murton Park visit last week.  Pupils have spent time looking at ‘WAGOLLs’ (What a Good One Looks Like) to ensure that they can make improvements in their writing. 

Some great conversation work took place in our French lesson this week – pupils learnt vocabulary linked to parts of the body and then used it as part of a game. 

In science we have been handling data about gestation periods and producing graphs to support our findings.

School council elections were held today – a huge well done to all the candidates.  The speeches were very impressive and our new councillors will be announced tomorrow.

A huge thank you to William in Y5, who has agreed to be our new ambassador.  We have no doubt that he will represent the school brilliantly with our Y6 ambassadors, Alphe and Erin.

Next Thursday we are visiting the author Tom Palmer at Leyburn, as part of the Broughton Hall literature festival – we can’t wait.  We have been reading the book, ‘Over the Line’ in class and are really enjoying it.
