Weekly Update 21st June 2018

Mrs Wolfe - 21 Jun 2018

We’ve had a great week in Cedar – the children have been on top form rehearsing for both the Arts Festival this coming Monday and Shakespeare Rocks.  Their singing and drama skills are improving day by day.  In maths we have moved on to percentages and have been converting using decimals and fractions.  We also launched an exciting new maths programme – ‘Times Table RockStars’.  All children have received a username and password and additional information for parents has been sent home.  I’ve never known homework club so busy!

On Tuesday, Miss Bodey treated Cedar to a ‘Trip to Paris’!  The children had a wonderful time learning new phrases and finding out all about French culture.

Our reading ambassadors – Rosa, Phoebe and Noah represented our school brilliantly at the Little Ripon Bookshop takeover at the beginning of the week.  They had a great time decorating the windows, ordering books, serving customers and writing reviews.  Mrs Pawson reported: ‘The reading ambassadors are keeping reading alive with their love of books and excitement’.

Hopefully you have received your complimentary tickets to our Art Festival next week – we do hope you can join us.  The event starts at 10:00 at Fountains Abbey and we will be performing alongside nine other schools in the cluster. We have two performances; our first is at 10am and we are then scheduled to be the final performance nearer to or just after lunchtime.  The ambassadors have sent out a plea foe cakes for the event – if you are able to make some please send them with your child on Monday morning.

Have a super weekend!
