Weekly Update - 11th October 2018

09 Oct 2018

What great excitement this week! We have finally moved into our new classroom and are having a great time in our lovely room. We have spent the week learning where all of our resources are now located and getting used to the room. We are sure we are going to have a great time in it! Thank you for your support with the new arrangements - we would kindly ask that when waiting for your child at the end of the day, you wait in the main playground area. For health and safety reasons, we cannot have the area immediately outside of the classrooms becoming congested. Cedar and Palm now share a cloakroom –again due to congestion we kindly request that pupils enter the building independently each morning.  Please don’t hesitate to leave a message at the office if you need to, send a message in your child’s reading record or pop in at the end of the day to speak to either myself or  Mrs Wolfe. This arrangement also allows us to get started with our learning straight away – every second counts!

In our Maths lessons we have started a new learning journey - discovering addition. We have used lots of concrete resources to help us get an understanding into what addition means as well as finding out lots of vocabulary which means the same as 'add'. In English we have continued to base our work around 'Stone Age Boy' and managed to develop our speech writing skills to write dialogue between Om and 'The Boy'. There were some great examples of speech and lots of people trying hard to remember the speech rules.

On Wednesday we had a visitor, Mr Roberts, who came to rehearse the songs for the cluster carol concert which will take place in December. This was a great event last year and the children were certainly in fine voice on Wednesday!

Thank you to everyone who has made an appointment for a learning review meeting next week - I look forward to meeting with you. If you are unable to make an appointment please do let me know and we can find a more convenient time.
