Weekly Update - 28th June 2018

25 Jun 2018

We had a great Geography lesson on Monday, combining what we have learnt in geography with our learning in Art & Design Technology by decorating and painting our volcanoes. We are just waiting to gloss them and we will finally be able to erupt them next week!

In Maths, we have started our topic on 'Geometry'. It has been wonderful to see people remembering learning from previous years as we made 2D shape fact files and began to solve some tricky mastery shape problems. It has also been great to see the children's learning developing - they can now name and recognise lots of tricky triangles and quadrilaterals! In English we have focussed on grammar; specifically recognising phrases and clauses and learning about the difference between the two. Speaking and Listening has taken a big focus this week as we continue our rehearsals for 'Shakespeare Rocks'. Performances for parents will take place on Tuesday 10th July at 1.30pm and Wednesday 11th July at 6.00pm. If you are unsure about what costume your child requires please do let us know and we can clarify for you!

We were treated to a fantastic French lesson on Wednesday from Miss Bodey, who is working in Cedar Class. She spent a year in France as part of her degree course and really got the children excited about the language!

It has been wonderful seeing so many children succeed on 'Times Table Rockstars' - we had three children getting 'Rockstar' status last week and I am hopeful for lots more this week! Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine!
