Weekly Update - 24th May 2018

21 May 2018

We have been very busy in all areas of the curriculum this week and have once again had some visitors from Year 2 who have also worked very hard. Palm Class continue to be great ambassadors for Key Stage 2 and really do lead by example. In Maths we have started a new topic on 'Statistics' and have enjoyed getting practical! We surveyed the most popular colour of car in the car park, before thinking about different ways we could present the data we have collected. We have also worked hard at looking at charts and graphs and finding out information based on the statistics we can see. We will continue this topic after half-term.
Our English focus has been on research - we are planning to write information texts about Spain and have chosen the areas we would like to focus on. We had to work hard to make our notes succint and relevant. In our Topic lessons we have investigated volcanoes and what causes volcanoes to explore - including making some volcanic eruptions with Miss Hallett (and a little bit of help from cola and mentos!). We flexed our writing muscles by writing an explation of how a volcano erupts. Palm Class have worked very hard this half-term and I hope everybody has a wonderful (sunny!) half-term.
Please remember that we return to school on Monday 4th June - which is the day that we are visiting Newby Hall for the Cross Country. P.E kits may be worn.
