Weekly Update - 10th May 2018

08 May 2018

It was lovely to have such a sunny start to the week...and an extra day off school on Monday! This week Palm Class have acted as super role models as some of the Year 2 children have joined us throughout the week and for various lessons; I am incredibly proud of how kind and supportive all of the Palm Class children have been.

In English we have continued to use 'Toro! Toro!' to inspire our writing. We have researched the history of bullfighting in Spain and made effective notes. We are planning on using these notes to help us write letters to the Spanish government, persuading them that bullfighting should be banned as a sport in Spain. In Maths we have continued to investigate time by completing our own Olympic sprints. We then spent time analysing this data alongside data of real Olympic events. Next week we will move onto solving time problems with one and two steps.

Our Science focus this week was on electrical conductors - we enjoyed finding out which materials would allow electricity to pass through them. In our Geography lessons we investigated weird weather around the world to make our own 'Extreme Earth' glossaries. A group of children also worked very hard with Mrs Brassington on Wednesday, designing their plaques for our West Tanfield collage. It's looking really effective!
