Class Weekly Update - Summer 2, Week 5 (5.7.18)

Mr Rutter - 05 Jul 2018

We have spent this week exploring Neverland. We have identified all of the different places and people that we have met in the story of Peter Pan and thought about some of our own that we would add. We created our own maps of Neverland (and aged them with tea and coffee!). We had some great ideas including the ‘Neverland Dragon’, ‘cloud people’ and a pink tiger that stalks the jungle. We will use our ideas to write our own Neverland adventure next week, so encourage keep encouraging the children to talk about their maps and ideas.

We have also used our Neverland adventures to explore the properties of different materials in our science work. Captain Hook had destroyed the Lost Boy’s home, so we went to our wildlife area to build them a new one. We discovered that some materials are good for making a roof and others aren’t. We even tested them out with a watering can to see if they would keep the rain out!

This afternoon we had our own ‘Wimbledon’ training including a treat to end the afternoon. We practised our tennis skills, including balancing the ball, ‘keepy-uppies’ and serving the ball to a partner. We then enjoyed some strawberries and cream as a special treat for all of our hard work with our assessments this week.
