Class Weekly Update - Summer 1, Week 3 (3.5.18)
Mr Rutter - 03 May 2018
We have been really working hard on our maths skills this week. This has included our arithmetic skills which rely on our instant recall facts and understanding of how to use the four operations (+ - X ÷).We also looked at our reasoning skills – thinking about what different problems need us to do and how we need to answer it. We thought that reading the question carefully is really important.
We have been creating some posters to explain why bees are important. These include lots of information about what bees do and how we can help them. We have also started some work on ‘bug’ inspired poetry. Keep an eye out for more of this!
The Land Art Project and the Tour de Yorkshire have inspired us to get in touch with our creative side this week. We have really enjoyed being artists. Watch out for our amazing artwork.
Our PE work today was all about teamwork and problem-solving. The children had to get their whole team from one side of the hall to the other without touching the floor. They had two big mats to use. They quickly worked out that jumping the distance wasn’t going to work, and that working together was the best solution. I was really impressed with your teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Next week Year 2 will begin their SATs – it is very important that the children are in school if possible. If anyone is unwell or has an appointment, please inform the office or Mr Rutter as soon as possible.
Our focus for SATs next week will be Maths, so please do keep practising instant recall facts at home.
