Gemma Pawson - 21 Jun 2020

Hello Acorn Class!
I hope that you have all had a fabulous weekend! I hope that you all gave your Daddy a super treat yesterday, I can't wait to hear all about your adventures.

Saturday was the longest day of the year, that means that we had the most number of daylight hours. I love this poem by Robert Louis Stevenson

'In winter I get up at night
and dress by yellow candle light.
In summer quite the other way
I have to go to bed by day.'

In the North Pole there is no night time at all at midsummer, in fact the sun remains in the sky for several days. In the South Pole it is the opposite, it stays dark for at least 24 hours. I love the long days and the sunshine streaming in through the windows. How do the changes in the seasons and the hours of day light make you feel I wonder.

This week is Independant Bookshop Week. At our school we are really lucky to have the help and support from the Little Ripon Bookshop, who organise author visits, book signings and help us to choose fantastic new books for our school. What a great excuse to read, read, read this week. What will you be reading I wonder? Please let me know, I love to hear your recomendations! I will be sharing some of my favourites with you too, although it is hard to choose!

Here are some learning adventures for today, this week we are starting to look at tigers and measurment amongst other things. We are also starting our fabulous insect investigations and exploartions inspired by EJ!
Have a marvelous Monday Acorn Class.
I will be on our class email today between 2 and 3pm if you would like to share any news, adventures or ask any questions. I can't wait to hear from you all.
Mrs Pawson
