Weekly update 28th February 2020

Mrs Pawson - 27 Feb 2020

Welcome back everyone, it has been super to hear about everyone's adventures over the break. We have had a busy and exciting start to the half term. We have all been sharing some fabulous pancake tales as well, we have been sharing both real and play dough pancakes in class with some fabulous toppings!

All of the home reading bags have been collected in and are having a wash and sort out ready to start again next week. We have some new books to read and share at home to keep us all busy reading. The children also want to keep their favourites, so there will be extra bags to share. Please return the bags to school the next day so that we can keep swapping the bags around, thank you. We were last in the school reading challenge this week and we were all a bit disappointed, please make sure you jot down any reading at home in your child's reading record, we need to have five or more in a week. I think we can definitely improve!

In our maths explorations we have been exploring ten and digging deeper into the number ten. We have been using a ten frame to explore and deepen our knowledge.

We are investigating poetry. So far we have read all kind of poems, chosen some adventures words and started to look at how poets use words in their work. We will be writing our own poems to share with you.

Next week we are starting our work on Fairtrade and will be planning a cafe to share with you on Thursday 12th March 9.00-9.30am  please come and join us (siblings in school will need to remain in their own classes).

As a whole school we have been thinking about Lent in our Collective Worship, instead of giving something up we are taking on 40 different challenges. Today we chose the challenge 'to think of 10 things that we were grateful for'. I wonder if the children might like to share their challenges with you at home? Please join us for Collective worship tomorrow at 9am followed by coffee.

Next week Acorn class will be leading our whole school Celebration Assembly- we can't wait!

We had a super PE session this week investigating different yoga positions, we love doing PE but it is sometimes difficult when not everyone has a PE kit in school. We have some spare kits but not enough for everyone, which can mean that we can't do PE when we want to.
