Weekly update - 26th September 2019

Miss Oates and Mrs Pawson - 25 Sep 2019

What a brilliant end to our cycling adventures! The children were superb supporters to all the cyclists taking part in the UCI Men’s Time Trial yesterday and we had a great time doing it. What a great opportunity and experience for us all to have!

The children now have their very own school reading book. This book needs to come into school everyday as we read with the children whenever we can during the week. We would like you to share your child’s story at home as many times as possible - the more the better! Home reading makes a huge difference to the children's development and love of reading. Therefore to help you out we have sent home some information and top tips to help you out! Reading to lots of different adults and siblings is also a great idea. Your child also has a yellow reading record. Please record any reading completed at home in this book. This record helps us to understand how the children are getting on at home and how often they are sharing stories. We also use this books to help guide you with how to support your child as their needs change. Please make sure they are in school everyday, thank you.

We we are starting to send home our ‘special bag’. We take it in turns to have the bag, it has a tag attached explaining what to do. We bring the bag home and the next day bring it into school with one special book in it that we would like to share with our friends in school that day.

We we have been busy spotting signs of autumn this week. The weather is gradually changing and the colours in the natural environment are changing. We also found some apples in the school orchard. There were some great ideas for what we could do and decided on a class apple crumble!

The heavy rain was making spectacular noises in our classroom this week and we couldn’t resist going to have a big splash! We put on our puddle suits and wellies and ever so enthusiastically splashed and splashed! We counted how many jumps it took us to get through a puddle as well as counting backwards to before a big group splash! These adventures resulted in lots of soggy socks. If your child borrowed a school pair of socks please could you return them.

We are beginning to create a collection of unnamed cardigans in the classroom. It is very tricky for us to return school uniform that isn’t named as it all looks the same. Please could you spend some time this weekend checking that names haven’t washed out or labels fallen off - we really appreciate your effort with this and we will do our best to minimise lost property.

Quick reminder...our school doors open at 8:45am and the register is taken at 8:55am. If your child arrives in the classroom after this time it is recorded as late. If your child is absent from school please phone the office in the morning from 8:30am and our admin team (Mrs Burn and Mrs Blakey) will take your call.

Making a big splash...3, 2, 1...jump!
