Weekly Update - 29th November 2018

Miss Oates and Mrs Pawson - 29 Nov 2018

This week we are all very excited about writing the nativity play. We have been busy and are buzzing with ideas! We are very proud to have written our own play again this year. We have lots still to organise and will be in touch about costumes (we have most things collected already), times and ticket information. We hope that you are as excited as we are!

We are really proud of the determination that our children have been showing in learning to zip up their own coats, 9 of us can now zip up our own coats and we are all helping each other. We are very independent in our class and we are proud to be able to help each other.
We have been exploring our outdoor environment and jumping in the puddles, mixing mud and playing in the water, including trying to dam the water to stop it from flowing across the play area!

We do get wet and muddy in our explorations, please can we ask that children have a PE kit in school as spare clothing and if possible some waterproofs. We had a wide range of spare socks, tights, pants etc at the beginning of the half term but the supply is now very low - if you have any of our spare items at home please can you return them to us!
In phonics this week we have been really concentrating on using the sounds we know to segment (sound out) and blend (build) words for reading and writing. We are becoming more confident and fluent with these skills and the more we practise the quicker we are becoming. We have also been challenging ourselves with our tricky words, we know that parts of these words don’t follow the pattern that we might be expecting, eg 'the'. Our tricky words are on our blue key rings and we love singing our 'tricky words' song... Don't let them trick you!

Just to confuse everyone our number of the week was 8 again this week as we still had some more challenges and adventures to explore!

Look out for some Christmas provocations beginning to be added to our classroom next week, just to add to our excitement. Is anyone counting sleeps?
