Weekly Update - 11th October 2018

Miss Oates and Mrs Pawson - 10 Oct 2018

Another busy week in Oak class...our adventures have included baking apple crumble, eco-school in the wildlife area, PE on the timber trail and lots of fun with the flour in the sensory tray.

We have continued our phonics learning and this week we have learnt the new sounds for m, g and d. We have also been practising the blending of these sounds together to help us read words. We’re feeling very proud of how well we can read already...lots of effort being put in! Thank you to everyone who was able to stay for our phonics session this morning. However if you weren’t able to make it and you have any questions then please pop in and ask us when you get a chance. Please use the blue phonics rings at home as much as possible to help you learn your letter sounds - can you spot any letters when you’re out and about? It is also important that we keep reading our wordless picture books - Mrs Peacock has been informing us about new research that explains the importance of developing new vocabulary on a daily basis. Thank you to those who have been reading most nights at home!

Our ‘number of the week’ this week has been three. We have been great at spotting the digit 3 but need to keep thinking about what ‘3’ is and how we can use it. Can we think of how much 3 means in years or money or amount of objects? What is it more of less than?

Please join us us at our harvest festival on Monday at 9:15am at St Andrew’s Church. The children will be sharing some work they have been doing.
