Miss Oates and Mrs Pawson - 04 Oct 2018

Wow - what a busy week we have had in Oak Class!

Our week started off with a lovely collective worship in church. The children made us proud and impressed Mrs Jarvis with their confidence and enthusiasm with singing one the songs we have been practising with Mrs Harris - 'Our God is a great big God!' Not all of KS2 knew this song so we had to be the role-models. We are thinking about care this term and we were thinking about differences. We have supported this learning with lots of books about differences and the children have talked maturely about this topic.

We have also continued learning some more of our phonics sounds. We have had to really concentrate to make sure we are making the pure sounds for these letters - please join us if you can on the 11th October 9:00-9:30 to take part and find out more about our phonics learning in school.

We have begun investigating a 'number of the week.' Last week we started with 'one' and this week we have been looking at 'two'. We have challenged ourselves to deepen our understanding by thinking of all the different ways we can represent and use the number two.

This week was also our first PE lesson - great excitement by all the children. We were so proud of how indepednetly the children got undressed and dressed and fingers crossed we all came home in our own clothes.

Music has played a big part of our learning this week and the children have been expressing their personal interests and style choices. The children now have free access to a selection of music to choose from throughout the day to sing and dance to.

We hope the children enjoyed their smoothies today - there was lots of excitment about using the blender and hearing it 'whizz' when they pressed the button! They talked to each other about healthy choices and vitamins in our food!

Thank you to everyone who is reading at home - I hope you are enjoying all the starytelling. We have invested in a few new books to add to our collection so keep an eye out for these!

Our learning review booking is still open via your website account. Please make sure you book a time slot.

New classroom update – we are still awaiting the official signing off of the new buildings; we were very much hoping that we would be in this week, however we cannot move in until the official signing is done.  We will let you know as soon as we have an official date.

We have started our learning road, we have started to add some photographs, come and have a look at the photos this week!
