Weekly Update - 24th May 2018

Miss Oates and Mrs Pawson - 24 May 2018

We have been a class full of engineers this week as we investigated how bugs can fly. We have been attempting to create our own contraptions to safely guide and glide an egg to the ground when dropped from a height (the closest we could get to flying!). So far we have researched, designed, tested and improved our models and tomorrow we will be using real eggs to see if we have been successful - wish us luck!

This week we have been grouping and sharing fairly in our maths. Over the holidays try and practise this in real life situations. We have produced some fantastic independent writing this week about our vehicles that just appeared in our classroom and the adventures that they got up to.

Another huge well done to all those children who have been challenging themselves with their reading and earning lots more Dojo points. It's great to hear how the children are also beginning to enjoy reading so much more - keep it up over the holidays. We will do a count up of Dojo points on the first day back. Will anyone manage to earn 20 more Dojo points?

Pippa has been in this week to help us out with a bit of gardening. Our outdoor area will be welcoming some vegetables to join our herbs and strawberries. I wonder what will grow first?

Our Bird is still happy with six eggs in her nest. We have been keeping a close eye on them but no signs of hatching yet. They might hatch over the holidays!

Next week is our half term holiday. We hope you have a lovely week and manage to find some time to rest and recuperate ready for a busy final half term. Don't forget to keep practising your phonics.
