Weekly Update - 26th April 2018

Miss Oates and Mrs Pawson - 26 Apr 2018

Our first two weeks back have been full of adventures already. We have had our reception parents in to see our learning environment and learning journeys. The children loved having you here, thank you for your time. Some of our year 1 children visited Outwood Academy in Ripon to take part in a football competition and were great roles models and had a wonderful time. In class we have been on our very own 'bug hunt' to see what we can find in our school environment.

Our question in the registration area this week was about 'Betty Bee' and 'Bill Bat'. Here is a quick explanation of who they are and what they mean:

Betty Bee and Bill Bat are our growth mindset mascots. Betty has a growth mindset and Bill has a fixed mindset. We learn about their learning and behaviour characteristics to help us understand how we can improve our own mindsets. We talk about making strong connections in our brain when we are learning new things and how to be resilient learners.

This is something we continually work on in school and works very well with the characteristics of effective learning which recpetion children are working on. There is lots of information about this online and if you have any questions about how it works in school we would be more than happy to discuss it with you. Please keep an eye out for next week's question - they really are helping us know what inoformation to provide.

PE kits - please make sure these are in school every week. Lots of chidlren were missing theirs this week. This was possibly due to them being worn home after the football tournament. If you have any old pumps or kit that your child has outgrown, we would be more than happy to accept these as spares.
