Welcome back after the half term break. We have really enjoyed hearing about the children’s adventures over the holiday, thank you for the pictures and photographs too.
We have already had a busy week and it doesn’t feel like we have been away. We are both very proud of the children this week. They have come into school settled and ready to explore and learn new things together. They are super to work with and are flourishing.
Before half term we began to organise our first school visit. Everyone has really enjoyed our forest schools work so far so the opportunity to explore a bigger area together will be a great adventure. Thank you to everyone for the speedy replies via our website. Just a reminder to let us know about packed lunches as Mrs Wilcox has to order supplies well in advance. Requests can be put in the comments  section on the reply slip and if you haven’t filled that part in don’t worry... you can go back and edit it!  Thank you.
What have we been looking at this week? In early years, as you know we follow the children’s interests and ideas so each week is always varied. We started with exploration into colour mixing  and using salt instead of paper to work with, our colours and textures were fabulous. We have been baking orange cupcakes which smelt delicious! We have had everything from fireworks to birthday cakes in the sensory tray. Some great pattern making on the light table and outside. We have been enjoying playing ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf?’ and singing our favourite songs and a few new ones too! Today we have seen some of the very best sewing we have ever seen at our sewing table, our fine motor skills and concentration skills had a great work out! Please have a look at our careful work, some of us even had a wow for teamwork and determination!
Our future learning will develop our current interests, so next week look out for birthdays, animal homes the number 7, beads, hibernation and autumn. We keep adding new phonics learning to the blue key rings every Friday, thank you for practising at home, it really helps!
We would like to let you know the dates for our nativity, it is a busy time and advance planning is always essential for parents and families. The children write their own play and we work together with year one and two, plotting our story (there are usually a few twists) as well as learning songs together. We will let you know more information nearer the time as the children haven’t yet started to think about their story. We will do two performances one on Wednesday 12th December in the afternoon and and Thursday 13th December early evening.
As always, we love to hear about your children and their adventures at home, our door is always open come and see what we are up to and ask any questions about the things you see. We love to share. We are looking forward to a great and probably very sparkly half term!
