Wow what a fabulous week we have had. Our learning adventures this week have been inspired by our new book 'Omar the bees and me' a really lovely book about bees, welcoming a refugee, friendship and the marvellous power of working together!
We started the week by writing shopping lists of the ingredients for honey cake, inspired by our book. We have designed and made bee gardens and corridors and inspired by our fact finding we are going to make a bee cafe next week. We have discovered some amazing facts from books, magazines and by watching Maddie's Bee Blog, we discovered and actually see under a microscope that a bee has 100 eyes, Mrs Pawson still can't believe this fact! Today a piece of actual honeycomb arrived in a parcel and again we can't quite believe how beautiful it is! Our bee investigations will I am sure continue next week, our list of wonders and our list of  'must do investigations' are both very long!

In Maths we are exploring our problem solving and reasoning skills, this is something we all really enjoy and naturally find exciting, we don't even know we are doing it as it is such a part of our 'maths is everywhere' work! This week we have been looking at the words we use and how to dig deeper into our reasoning using known facts to help us. Keep up the fantastic work everyone!

We have certainly been making the most of the crates and guttering this week, building very complex systems of water, ball and sand shoots, I think we have some budding engineers in Acorn Class! Our construction skills have been flourishing this week too. With flange joins, paper and card joins, folds and shaping. I love some of the super creations we have developed especially the pen pots!

I hope you all love the bookmarks we made today, we have been very patient waiting for the flowers in our flower press to be ready to use, I hope that you agree they are certainly worth the wait! Similarly our caterpillars are helping us to develop our understanding of patience as well as our curiosity! They are incredibly large now! We are excited to see their next stage of development!

We have had such a busy week, our update could go on for pages and pages... the thing that has stood out the most is our fabulous ability to 'shine like a star'! From skipping 155 skips, building a number line from scratch, to learning to hola hoop around an ankle and wrist, to keeping going when using our phonics skills to write, to sharing a story with a friend and to learning to say sorry and accept an apology, we have all been challenged this week many times and shone like a star in doing so! Wow Acorn Class, I am so lucky to work with you all everyday and as always I am looking forward to next week... have a super duper weekend!
